WHO AM I?
About me, Justin
I believe that taking that first step and going to see a Counsellor (even if it’s not your first time), and talking about things of a personal nature, is something that takes a great deal of courage. I also believe, if you know a little about who it is you are choosing to work with, it can sometimes make things a little easier.
My private practice is called Why? Counselling. I qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor in 2020 with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I recently retired from my career as a Firefighter that spanned over 29 years of service, and is where I developed my passion for Counselling & Coaching. As I see it, being a Counsellor and a Coach is a natural evolution of who I am. I spent a little over 29 years helping the public on the ‘worst day of their lives’, and I view my work as a Counsellor as my way of continuing to help people.
WHAT?
How can I help?
I’m a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I can help people with a wide range of problems.
My area of special interest is in trauma, working with both current and former members of the emergency services; as well as helping men with their issues, for example, toxic masculinity, loss of direction in life etc.
ALWAYS LEARNING
The future of Why?…
As a practitioner who genuinely cares, my commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is unwavering. I continuously enrich my understanding of evidence-based practices to provide the best support for those I work with. My adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework isn’t just about protocols, but ensuring a safe and ethical environment for everyone involved. I actively seek opportunities for growth and refinement in my practice, all with the goal of enhancing my effectiveness and extending my reach to those who need my services.
I am also a qualified ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 3 Coach/Mentor. I gained this qualification while serving as a Senior Instructor in the Fire Service. I helped Firefighters and their Commanders to operate at the highest levels of performance, while working in extremely challenging circumstances & environments. I believe I can help you to thrive, whether it is improving your performance at work, or setting new goals and achieving them.
Real pleasure to present Justin Stoneham @EastSussexFRS with Long Service Medal for 20 years saving lives.
